Welcome to East Hill Views, my name is Paul Mitchell and this is my blog. I have lived in Middlesex, NY most of my life. My life here was interrupted for a time when I studied photography in Sacramento, CA. I was a professional photographer for several years before entering the nursing profession. After thirty-five years I have retired. I am now concentrating on writing, grandchildren, and smelling the roses.
My wife, Joan, is also a nurse, we have one son, a daughter in law, a grandson and granddaughter. We enjoy traveling, especially to the American West. We have hiked and backpacked throughout the West. We enjoy our home here in the hills of Middlesex; where we garden, cook, enjoy wine both home-made and from the fine wineries of the Finger Lakes. We do share one other work: that of taking care of our alpacas. Joan uses their fleece to hand spin and weave into clothing.
Yes-I am a Boomer. But I promise this blog will not be about retirement, health and grandchildren, (well, not too much). I love to write, I see in pictures, and I want to share this beautiful area and world with others. What I see now is through older, retired and very content eyes. What I am about is quite simple to say: I am a Christian, a husband, father and grandfather. My mantra comes from Psalm 118: “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Ethics Statement
The purpose of this blog is to share my writing, photography and digital stories. My goal is to provide a positive, inspiring and fun filled experience for the viewers. The posts will be my own and published in my name. Any material not my own will have proper citations to indicate the source and acknowledge the author. I will uphold all copyrights. Any subject matter obtained from private individuals will be used by permission only. I will not use any pirated or black market sources or programs.
This will be a public site and I welcome comments to my posts. The comments will be monitored before being added to the post. Comments which I consider profane, degrading or distasteful will not be posted. It is my hope and expectation that contributors to the blog will also respect copyrights and cite their sources. If my original content is shared I ask that my authorship is acknowledged.
As with all blogs I use multiple platforms for its production. These include, but are not limited to: ipages, Vimeo and Youtube. It is common knowledge these types of companies extract user data for their use. Each has a privacy policy that is available for review. With the understanding that what goes onto the internet is accessible throughout the world, and is permanently linked to me; I will carefully consider all my content before posting. I will avoid personal attacks, generalizations, and will moderate my biases as best I can.
